Influencing policy

As a campaigning organisation, Reforesting Scotland works with government agencies and responds to public consultations to lobby for policy changes that will further our vision of a well-forested and productive landscape and a culture which values the contribution that trees and woods bring to our lives.

In this way we have helped to shape recent policies such as the National Forest Land Scheme, an exciting development that allows communities to buy or lease land from Forestry Commission Scotland and allows national forest land to be sold for affordable housing. The legacy of Reforesting Scotland's work for the last 15 years has also ensured that the new Scottish Forestry Strategy 2006 puts people at the very heart of forestry in Scotland, and recognises the full range of benefits that forestry can bring.

Some of Reforesting Scotland's consultation responses can be viewed in this new section of the website. If you know of an important past policy document that ought to appear here, please email .
