Green Spaces in the Urban Environment

Green Spaces in the Urban Environment (GSUE) was set up by a group of Reforesting Scotland members in December 2002, to focus on green space issues both within and outwith Reforesting Scotland. 'Green spaces' is not a new term - the concept has been around since the first civilisations, thousands of years ago. The importance of green spaces to the quality of life of people living in urban areas has long been recognised, and is reflected in the many parks created by the Victorians.

GSUE is about raising the profile and exploring the issues. It encompasses all relevant issues, such as the maintenance of existing spaces, public parks, community gardens, allotments, planning issues, community involvement and urban orchards.
